A luxurious, versatile statement piece handcrafted from lustrous cultured pearls from Japan, each one naturally individual in shape, surface and subtle iridescence. Rather than insisting on perfect uniformity, Velvetnoon celebrates the quiet beauty of pearls in their organic form — making every piece unmistakably one of a kind.

Japan holds a distinguished place in the history of modern cultured pearls. In the late 19th century, Japanese pearl cultivation transformed pearls from an exceptionally rare natural treasure into a carefully cultivated jewel. In 1893, Kokichi Mikimoto successfully produced cultured pearls in Japan, laying the foundation for an industry renowned for exceptional craftsmanship and luminous nacre. 

Each pearl in this necklace is individually knotted by hand on a fine Japanese silk cord, a traditional technique that allows the pearls to move beautifully while giving the piece a refined, tactile finish. The silk cord creates an elegant contrast to the natural glow of the pearls — understated, luxurious and distinctly Japanese in spirit.
